CF.Cumulus is a metadata-driven framework for delivering production data platforms on Azure.
Instead of writing bespoke ingest, transform, and orchestration code for every project, teams configure CF.Cumulus through metadata stored in SQL and ship working pipelines in days, not months. CF.Cumulus uses native Azure services end-to-end (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Functions). What you deploy is a real Azure data platform you can extend, audit, and run on your own subscription. There is no black-box runtime and no proprietary execution engine.


What you get

  • Metadata-driven ingest, transform, and orchestration. Add sources, datasets, and pipelines by editing configuration in SQL. The framework generates and runs the corresponding ADF and Databricks workloads.
  • Lakehouse on native Azure. Bronze, silver, and gold patterns implemented on ADLS Gen2 and Databricks, with full observability through Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
  • Managed portal for operators. A web portal for environment management, health checks, connection testing, dataset configuration, and tier-aware feature access.
  • Production-grade by default. Concurrency-safe pipeline orchestration, structured execution logging, integrated key vault, AAD-only authentication, and an opinionated resource layout aligned to Microsoft architecture guidance.

Editions

  • Community. Free. Full framework with basic portal capabilities (advanced features available in paid tiers). Deployed from Azure Marketplace; community documentation; no SLA or managed onboarding.
  • Professional. Metered billing. Adds ticketing support, SLA-backed response times, advanced portal monitoring, easier metadata management, and managed upgrade coordination.
  • Premium. Metered billing. Adds dedicated account management, deep diagnostics, early access to roadmap features, and direct engineering escalation.
All editions deploy the same Azure infrastructure into your subscription. Tier differentiation is in feature access and support, not in what runs under the hood. See the Plans section for pricing.

Deployment

CF.Cumulus deploys as an Azure managed application directly into a managed resource group in your subscription. After deployment, the CF.Cumulus management portal walks operators through a short configuration checklist (connecting data sources, registering compute, confirming environment health) from the browser.
