Oracle Linux 7.9 is 100% binary compatible with RHEL 7 and CentOS 7. It suits legacy applications that cannot yet be migrated to newer versions. Oracle Linux 7 left Oracle Premier Support on 31 December 2024 and the free public channel publishes no new errata; continued security updates need an Oracle Linux Extended Support subscription. For new deployments, cloudimg also publishes Oracle Linux 8 and Oracle Linux 9 images.
