Electronic Signatures for Business Central

Signicat for Business Central enables electronic signing of sales orders and contracts directly within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Send documents for signature with one click, track status in real-time, and receive signed PDFs back as attachments.

Core Functionality

  • Send for Signature: Click "Send for Signature" on any sales order to generate and send the document via Signicat's Sign API v2.
  • Automatic Email Delivery: Customers receive an email with a secure signing link. Customize email templates with your branding.
  • Status Tracking: View signature status directly on sales orders with color-coded indicators (Draft, Sent, Signed, Rejected, Expired).
  • FactBox Integration: See all signature requests in a dedicated FactBox on the sales order page. Refresh status, download signed documents, or view details without leaving the page.
  • Document Attachments: Both original and signed PDFs are automatically stored as document attachments, maintaining a complete audit trail.
  • PAdES Compliance: All signatures meet ISO 32000-2 standards for PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures.

Configuration Options

  • Setup Page: Configure Signicat API credentials (OAuth 2.0), stored securely in Isolated Storage.
  • Email Templates: Customize subject and HTML body templates with placeholders for document title, signer name, and signing URL.
  • Signature Expiration: Set validity period for signature sessions (default 30 days) using Business Central's DateFormula format.
  • Internal Signers: Define default internal signers from the Salesperson/Purchaser table for dual-signature workflows.
  • Multi-Language: Interface available in English, Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish with Business Central standard terminology.

Workflow

  1. Generate PDF: System creates a PDF from the sales order confirmation report.
  2. Upload to Signicat: Document is uploaded via API and a signing session is created.
  3. Email Notification: Customer receives an email with a unique signing URL.
  4. Customer Signs: Customer reviews and signs the document through Signicat's web interface.
  5. Status Update: Background job queue polls for status changes and updates Business Central.
  6. Download Signed PDF: When signed, the system downloads the PAdES-compliant PDF and stores it as an attachment.

Technical Details

  • API Integration: Signicat Sign API v2 with OAuth 2.0 authentication.
  • Security: HTTPS-only communication, credentials in Isolated Storage, GDPR-compliant data handling.
  • Email System: Uses Business Central's native email module (SMTP, Microsoft 365, etc.).
  • Background Jobs: Configurable job queue for automatic status polling (default 15 minutes).

Requirements

  • Business Central version 22.0 or higher
  • Active Signicat subscription with Sign API v2 access
  • Configured email account in Business Central

The app support both Essential and premium version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Supported languages nb-no and en-us
