Rocky Linux VM

durch Derek Coleman & Associates Corporation

Rocky Linux 9 on a Gen2 Trusted Launch VM, patched at build, billed per vCPU on your Azure invoice.

You get Rocky Linux 9 on an Azure Generation 2 (UEFI-based) VM with Trusted Launch, ready for SSH sign-in with the key you choose when you deploy. Rocky Linux is a community enterprise Linux distribution that its project describes as bug-for-bug compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

Who it's for

  • Teams standardized on RPM-based enterprise Linux who want Rocky Linux 9 on Azure
  • Developers who need a Rocky Linux 9 VM to build or test software for that platform
  • Administrators who want a plain base OS for their own configuration management

What's included

  • Rocky Linux 9.8, x86-64, with the 5.14 kernel series that Rocky Linux 9 uses
  • dnf and RPM (Rocky Linux's package manager and package format)
  • The Azure Linux agent (WALinuxAgent), which provisions your admin user and SSH key at first boot

After deployment

  • Deploy it from the Azure portal: choose an SSH public key for the admin user and allow inbound SSH (port 22), ideally from your own IP address only.
  • Sign in, then run sudo dnf upgrade: this image was built on 17 October 2026 with the Rocky Linux updates published to that date, and the command applies anything newer.
  • Open any other port yourself with a network security group (NSG, the firewall rules Azure applies to the VM).

Why this image

  • A fresh build: patched during the build and checked against the Azure Marketplace certification rubric before publishing
  • Billed on your Azure invoice with no separate subscription to buy
  • Email support at support@dcassociatesgroup.com and a quick-start page at www.dcassociatesgroup.com/support/

How it runs on Azure

The VM runs in your own Azure subscription and virtual network. Billing is pay-as-you-go on your Azure invoice: an hourly software charge per vCPU plus standard Azure compute and storage. Requirement: a VM size that supports Generation 2.
