Microsoft Copilot is a new technology powered by the OpenAI large language model (LLM) that offers users generative AI capabilities through chatbots. Our Approach Our aim is to enable your business to start using Copilot for Power BI, to avoid the common pitfalls and to position the organisation to see maximum benefit. This is done in a three-phased approach, including: 1. Planning/Scoping: In this phase, we will identify the business requirements, understanding why you are interested in Copilot and what business problems it may help to solve. It involves identifying who the key stakeholders are, and ensuring alignment on the expectations, objectives, and deliverables of the project. It is here where we agree upon the scope of the project, such as which semantic model(s) are to be initially used with Copilot, and the overall project plan. 2. Current State Analysis: In this phase, our consultants will undertake a comprehensive investigation into the existing environment and the semantic model(s) in question. This involves understanding how Power BI is currently being used in the organisation, how closely aligned to best practice you are, and how much effort will be required to optimise for Copilot. Crucially, this involved acquiring a substantial knowledge of the organisation, the data used for reporting and analytics, and the different ways measures and entities are referred to by the business. 3. Copilot Enablement: Based on the findings from prior phases, we will enable use of Copilot in your organisation, firstly by ensuring the correct prerequisites are in place, in terms of licensing, settings and security. We will then implement a series of bespoke enhancements to your model to optimise it for Copilot. Finally, we will empower your business users and developers to use Copilot by providing training on the various features of Copilot in both the Power BI Service and Power BI Desktop.
