Summary of workshop contents

Prepare your data is a set of three workshops. Each workshop gives you a list of actions to follow. The "Prepare Your Data" phase is designed not only to establish a secure, controlled data environment but also to pave the way for the robust user adoption of data cleaning guidelines.

• Part 1 - Define sensitive data
• Assess or develop definition of what sensitive data is
• Assess policies for sites and users with sensitive data
• Create a list of sites with sensitive data

• Part 2 - Review access to sensitive data
• We use data discovery tools to identify where sensitive data is stored across networks, cloud services, and devices
• Prioritize data sources based on sensitivity and exposure risk

• Part 3 - User Adoption Plan
• Define Data Cleaning Guidelines for end users and site owners
• Design a high-level user adoption plan including a stakeholder analysis, communication plan and ways to measure progress

• Prioritized inventory of sites / users handling sensitive data
• Data access and sharing policies to protect sensitive information
• Recommendations for technical solutions to prevent unauthorized data sharing
• High level plan to implement recommended actions
• High level User Adoption plan to implement Data Cleaning, including clear and understandable guidelines, stakeholder analysis and plan for setup of Champions network
