Simform helps organizations establish a comprehensive governance foundation for Microsoft Fabric early in their adoption journey, enabling secure and scalable growth. This includes tenant, workspace, data, and operational governance to ensure consistent standards, controlled access, compliance, and efficient platform usage.
Primary Objective: Establish baseline Fabric tenant governance covering workspace standards, tenant settings, ownership, and operating controls.
Scope: Review and configure the Microsoft Fabric tenant settings in alignment with organizational requirements and industry best practices. Define workspace naming conventions, ownership models, and lifecycle management standards to support consistent administration and resource management. Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and security governance through Microsoft Entra ID, ensuring appropriate access permissions and segregation of duties across users and teams. Define and enforce data governance practices, including data classification, sensitivity labeling, and data lineage tracking where applicable, to enhance data security, compliance, and transparency. Enable metadata management and data cataloging integration, leveraging Microsoft Purview where applicable, to improve data discoverability and governance. Establish capacity governance guardrails covering resource utilization monitoring, cost management, workload isolation, and performance optimization. Implement comprehensive audit, monitoring, and activity tracking practices to support operational oversight, security investigations, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, develop and document administrative and operational procedures to ensure ongoing governance, compliance adherence, and effective platform management throughout the lifecycle of the Fabric environment.
