Microsoft SQL End of Life Migration Assessment

Cyclotron Inc.

Prepare for SQL Server end of life with a readiness, risk and cost assessment for Azure migration.

SQL Server 2016 reaches end of extended support on July 14, 2026, and SQL Server 2017 on October 12, 2027. After these dates, Microsoft no longer provides security updates unless Extended Security Updates (ESU) are purchased. Migrating to Azure helps eliminate unsupported software risk and maintain compliance without relying on costly, temporary ESU coverage.

The Microsoft SQL End of Life Migration Assessment helps customers prepare for SQL server end of life by delivering a structured evaluation of their SQL server estate. The assessment inventories SQL server instances and dependencies, evaluates migration readiness, identifies compatibility risks, and recommends right sized Azure SQL targets. Customers receive cost projections, performance baseline insights, and a prioritized migration roadmap to support informed Azure migration planning. This 2-3 week assessment is focused on readiness, planning, and decision support. It does not perform migrations, modify environments, or remediate issues.

Deliverables: • SQL Server estate inventory • Migration readiness and compatibility findings • Right sized Azure SQL target recommendations • Cost and Azure Hybrid Benefit analysis • Prioritized migration roadmap

This assessment may be eligible for Microsoft Azure Accelerate funding, subject to Microsoft approval and program terms.
