ThePoint People Spotlight
بواسطة ThePoint
Celebrate new joiners, work anniversaries and promotions on your SharePoint intranet.
ThePoint People Spotlight puts the moments worth celebrating on your intranet — the people who have just joined, who are marking a work anniversary, or who have been promoted. New joiners and anniversaries are read straight from your directory, so the web part keeps itself up to date with no list to maintain.
Built for HR, internal comms, and people teams who want recognition to be visible where everyone already works, rather than lost in an email. Put it on the intranet home page, a department site, or a people hub.
Three spotlight types
- New joiners — everyone who started within a look-back window you choose, with a "Day 3" style badge.
- Work anniversaries — today, this week, or this month, with years of service.
- Promotions — from a simple SharePoint list, with an optional citation explaining why.
Four display styles
- Cards — photo, role, department and one-click Teams and email actions. For wide zones and people pages.
- Slimline — a compact tile grid for narrow columns, where recognition at a glance is the point.
- List — a dense row per person, for the most information in the least space.
- Feed — reads as a sentence ("Priya Nair joined as Solutions Architect"), suiting a sidebar or activity column.
Also included
- No list to maintain for joiners and anniversaries — both come from Microsoft Entra ID employee hire dates.
- Hides itself when there is nobody to celebrate, so a quiet week leaves no empty space on the page.
- Standard SharePoint title — editable in place, styled to match first-party web parts.
- Fluent UI throughout — Microsoft's own design system, so it looks and behaves like the rest of SharePoint.
- Theme aware and responsive — inherits your site's accent colour, or set your own.
Privacy and permissions
This package contains a single SharePoint Framework (SPFx) client-side web part, provisioned with one capability — SharePoint Web Part. It does not include any Microsoft Teams components or app.
The web part requests the Microsoft Graph User.Read.All permission, which a tenant administrator must approve. This is required to read the directory profiles the spotlight is built from — name, job title, department, photo, and employee hire date. Everything is read in the signed-in user's context, nothing is written back to the directory, and no data leaves your tenant or is sent to any external service. Promotions are stored in a SharePoint list on your own site.
Licensing
A paid licence key is required for full functionality. The app runs in trial mode without a licence key; a trial banner appears above the web part and is removed once a valid paid licence key, purchased from ThePoint, is entered.
