GAssist

GAssist brings your pull request workflow into Microsoft Teams, so developers and reviewers can stay on top of code reviews without switching between chat and their Git provider.

Who it's for

Software development teams that use Microsoft Teams for daily communication and host their code on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps. It is designed for developers, code reviewers, and engineering leads who want to reduce review turnaround time.

What you get inside Teams

Real-time PR notifications — GAssist sends you a personal chat message the moment something needs your attention:

• A pull request is opened, and you are requested as a reviewer

• A reviewer approves or requests changes on your pull request

• New commits are pushed to a pull request you are reviewing

• Someone comments on your pull request or mentions you

• CI/build status updates for your pull request

• Your pull request is merged, closed, or declined

Act on pull requests directly from the card — every notification is an interactive card. Without leaving Teams, you can:

• Approve a pull request or request changes

• Merge or reopen a pull request

• Reply with a comment

• Mute notifications for a specific pull request

Chat commands — message the bot to stay organised:

• reviews — see all pull requests waiting for your review

• filter reviews — narrow the list to specific repositories

• created — see the pull requests you have opened

• switch project/org workspace — change your active GitLab or Azure DevOps project, Azure DevOps organisation, or Bitbucket workspace

• settings — set a daily reminder time; GAssist will nudge you each day with the reviews still waiting on you

• help — see all available commands

Account requirements

GAssist requires:

A Garth workspace for your organisation. Your admin can sign up and connect your Git provider at https://darner.ai.

A Git provider account (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or Azure DevOps). On first use, the bot asks you to sign in to your Git provider to securely link your account. Notifications and actions are always performed as you, using your own Git permissions.

Limitations

• GAssist works in personal (one-to-one) chat with the bot; it does not post to channels or group chats.

• You only receive notifications for pull requests where you are the author, a requested reviewer, or mentioned.

• Actions such as approve and merge are subject to your permissions in the Git provider — if you cannot merge a pull request there, you cannot merge it from Teams.

• An active connection between your organisation's Git provider and Garth (configured by your admin) is required before any notifications are delivered.
