Search your mail, pick the responsive records, and build a numbered, indexed bundle in OneDrive.
When a public records request lands, someone has to assemble the response: search the mailbox, collect the responsive emails and attachments, put them in order, and produce something a requester - and a records officer - can work with. Most agencies do this by hand, message by message.
Public Records Packager turns that into three steps: search, review, build.
SEARCH AND REVIEW
Full-text search across your own mailbox, with date-range and participant filters. Results appear as a chronological checklist - uncheck anything out of scope before building. You decide what is responsive; the add-in just does
THE BUNDLE
One click builds a records bundle in your own OneDrive, organized for review and release:
- Each message saved as a numbered, chronological .eml file (the exact archival original) PLUS a clean printable .html copy (print to PDF for release).
- Every attachment in its original format, in a per-message folder, name-deduplicated.
- manifest.csv - an index of every record (date, from, to, cc, subject, attachments) with blank columns for released-in-full, exemption notes, and statute citations, ready for exemption review.
- README.txt describing the bundle.
BUILT FOR THE CUSTODIAN'S WORKFLOW
The bundle matches how records responses are actually reviewed: numbered chronological records, originals preserved, printable copies for redaction-and-release downstream, and a manifest your legal reviewer can work through line by line. The add-in deliberately does NOT redact - redaction and exemption decisions stay with your reviewers and your tools.
PRIVACY BY DESIGN - WE COLLECT NO DATA
No publisher server, no accounts, no analytics, no AI. Searching happens in your own mailbox and bundles are written to your own OneDrive via Microsoft Graph with delegated permissions. Records never leave your Microsoft 365 tenant and are never seen, stored, or shared by us.
WHO IT'S FOR
Records officers, custodians, clerks, and legal staff at state and local government agencies, school districts, and any organization that answers public records, FOIA, or open records requests from email.
HOW TO USE
1. Open any message and click "Records Packager" on the ribbon.
2. Enter search terms (first run: sign in and consent - one time only).
3. Review the chronological checklist, name the bundle, click Build.
4. Open the bundle folder in OneDrive - review, redact downstream, release.
