SmartVisuals News Ticker

SmartVisuals News Ticker puts the television lower third on your Power BI report: a strip of headlines, KPIs and alerts that scrolls straight out of your data model. Built for wall-mounted dashboards, operations rooms, receptions and any report that deserves a pulse.

Everything is free. Every feature, for every viewer, with no licence, no watermark and no blocked report.

What it does

• Any text you already have - map a Headline field and you have a working ticker. Badge, Image, Value and Change are optional extras.
• Badge chips coloured per category, and listed in the format pane under your own badge names rather than "Badge 1".
• Up and down deltas with arrows and colours, invertible for cost, defect and downtime metrics, honouring the format string on your measures.
• Horizontal or vertical - a broadcast strip running either direction, or a vertical news column where long headlines wrap instead of being cut off.
• Up to five rows, with items dealt across them and the rows running staggered so they never march in lockstep.
• Per-item logos from base64 images stored in your own model.
• Change flash - an item whose numbers moved marks itself on the next refresh, so a wall display shows you what just happened.
• Announcement - type a message in the format pane and it runs on its own, with no fields mapped at all.
• Cross-filtering - click an item and the rest of the report follows, with tooltips, context menu and multi-select.
• Four themes with real personality - typography, chip shape and separators change, not just the hue. Every colour stays overridable, and your explicit choices survive a theme switch.

Made for people who watch a screen all day

• A viewer pause button, plus pause on hover, so a reader can stop the strip and finish the line.
• One keyboard tab stop for the whole ticker, with arrow keys to move between items, Enter to cross-filter and Escape to clear. Not one tab stop per row.
• Reduced motion is honoured - the strip stops scrolling for viewers whose system asks for less movement.
• High contrast is taken from the Windows host palette.
• Static mode captures a clean frame, so exports to PDF and PowerPoint never catch a mid-scroll cut.

Privacy and security

The visual makes no external service calls. There are no accounts, no API keys and no telemetry, and your data is never transmitted anywhere. Images are read only from base64 data URIs stored in your own model, so nothing is ever fetched from the web.

Getting started

Drop a text column into Headline and you are done. Add Badge for category chips, Value and Change for stock-ticker numbers, and Image for logos. The order follows the sort you set on the field.

Works well for production and operations wall boards, network operations centres, sales win feeds, safety and quality metrics, reception screens and internal announcements.
