D365 - Encrypted Payments: 10-day implementation

Cyber security is becoming more and more important every day, especially which lots of software moving to the cloud and more and more employees working from home. The functionality of encrypted payments ensures payment information is made unreadable from the moment the payment file is generated in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations to the moment the payment file arrives in the payment/banking platform. Next to this the file is digitally signed, ensuring a waterproof verification of the origin of the file.

Using the PGP protocol (Pretty good privacy) the payment file is encrypted (made unreadable) and signed (Proof of origin where file was generated). From the moment a user hits the ‘generate payments’ button is hit no extra manual steps are required: the payment goes directly to the banking/payment platform. Encryption and signing works end-to-end meaning there is a 100% guarantee there are no manipulations done on the payment information received by the banking/payment platform. Only the banking/payment platform can decrypt the file, make it readable again and verify the origin of the file by verifying the signature.
