OpenMage LTS on Ubuntu 24.04

OpenMage LTS is the community maintained long term support fork of Magento Open Source (Magento 1.9 Community Edition), a full featured open source ecommerce platform. It provides a product catalog, shopping cart and checkout, order and customer management, CMS pages and blocks, promotions and price rules, multi store and multi currency support, and the complete administration backend. Merchants run a professional online store, extend it with the large Magento module ecosystem, and keep receiving security and compatibility fixes long after Magento 1 reached end of life. This cloudimg image runs OpenMage LTS 20.18.0.

Installed and ready. cloudimg builds the image with OpenMage installed to /var/www/openmage and the database schema already built, served over HTTPS by Apache 2.4 with mod_php 8.3 and MySQL 8.0 on Ubuntu 24.04, so the storefront and admin answer the moment the instance boots, with no setup wizard to complete. Plain HTTP redirects to HTTPS, and the catalog indexes are pre-built.

Secure by default and asserted, not assumed. The store holds customer and order data, so the image ships no known credential: the build time admin password is neutralised, and on each machine's first boot cloudimg rotates a fresh administrator password, a fresh database password and a fresh encryption key, randomises the admin panel path away from the well known /admin, generates a per VM self signed TLS certificate, and sets the store base URL from the machine's own address. Every value is written to a root only file. Two machines built from this image never share a credential, and a blank, default or guessed admin password is rejected. MySQL binds to loopback only with no shipped root password, and no swap is baked into the disk.

OpenMage LTS is licensed OSL-3.0 / AFL-3.0 and is shipped unmodified; it is entirely open source with no paid tier required to reach a working store, and no subscription, licence key or support contract. The cloudimg charge covers packaging, secure by default hardening and 24/7 support. cloudimg is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenMage or Magento; the names are used nominatively to identify the software the image contains.
