Open source ERP and invoicing: customers, quotes, orders, invoices, stock, accounting
A complete ERP for small and medium businesses
FacturaScripts is an open source ERP and invoicing platform that covers the whole commercial cycle: customers and suppliers, quotes, sales and purchase orders, delivery notes, invoices and receipts, alongside stock control, tax handling and double entry accounting. It is a mature, actively developed PHP application with a plugin architecture, so you can extend it for your own workflows without forking the core. This image gives you the whole thing on a VM you control, with your data in your own subscription.
Ready to invoice, not ready to configure
A manual FacturaScripts installation drops you into a web installer that asks for database credentials and then seeds an administrator account. This image does that work for you. On the first boot of your VM the database, its user and the application configuration are all created automatically, the complete schema is materialised, and the interface language is set to English. You sign in and start entering your company details, rather than provisioning a database first.
That last point matters more than it sounds. FacturaScripts creates its tables the first time each one is needed, which on a freshly installed instance means the schema is only partly built and the first sales invoice you raise can fail on a table that does not exist yet. This image builds the entire schema during first boot, so the application is complete from your very first sign in.
Secure by default, with no shared password
Nothing privileged is baked into the image. The captured image contains no application configuration and no database content at all, so there is no shared administrator password anywhere, and the web server is held back by a systemd condition so it physically cannot serve the installer wizard before your VM has been configured. On first boot the MariaDB root password, the application database password and the FacturaScripts administrator password are each generated uniquely for your VM and written to a file only root can read. The published default administrator login that a manual installation would create is never valid on this image, and the appliance verifies that for itself before it finishes booting.
The database is never exposed: MariaDB binds to the loopback interface only, the application connects as a least privilege account limited to its own database, and the configuration file holding that password is both root owned and refused by the web server.
Your data on its own disks
The database and the application tier each get a dedicated Azure data disk, captured into the image and re-provisioned on every VM. Your invoices, customers and accounting entries live on one; the application and the documents it generates and stores live on the other. Both can be resized independently and both survive an operating system disk swap.
